You don’t have to own a yacht to belong to a Yacht Club. You don’t even need a boat.
An interest in boating might help but it isn’t required. An interest in making new friends and having a good time is all you need.
Types of Memberships
Memberships come in four sizes, Regular, Temporary, Social and Honorary.
Regular members are corporate members who take part in the operation of the club. They vote for Directors and participate in all functions of the Club. They may hold elective office, claim the privilege of the floor at annual meetings and have reciprocal privileges with other clubs in the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs. A single individual may be a member. If married, or a significant other, both must hold memberships. Children under the age of 21 may use the club at the discretion of their parents.
Social memberships are for candidates who meet all the qualifications for Regular Membership but wish to participate only in social activities of this Club. A social member may apply at any time for regular membership.
Temporary Memberships are for those interested applicants who do not have a proposer. They are limited to a maximum of 90 days. This would give you an opportunity to meet regular club members. Applications are available from the Membership Chairman. When qualified, you may make application to transfer to Regular or Social status.
Only Corporate Members may propose candidates for membership in TSYC. An interested prospect may only apply on the invitation of a Corporate Member who serves as a proposer. Non-members may receive membership applications only from the member who proposes them. The secretary or membership chairman can provide applications. The proposer and an endorser must sign the application forms.
Three members of the Board of Directors who have met the applicant must sign all applications.
